Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Computers & Graphics Journal and
Shape Modeling International (SMI) Conference
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is entered into this 2/15/2024, by and between
Computers & Graphics Journal, hereinafter referred to as "the Journal", and the Shape
Modeling International (SMI) Conference Series, hereinafter referred to as "the Conference",
collectively referred to as "the Parties".
Duration:
This MoU is valid for three years from the date of signing.
Terms of Reference for the Publication of Conference Proceedings in Computers &
Graphics:
Responsibilities of the Conference Organizers:
1. All papers must ultimately be submitted using the publisher’s online platform.
2. A system other than EditorialManager (Elsevier) may be used for the initial submission
and first review cycle. However, the Elsevier EditorialManager system must be
employed for the second and subsequent review cycles. The Guest Editors ensure
reviewer continuity, and that original reviews are visible and carried out in the transition
between systems.
3. The Conference Organizers shall appoint an Executive Editor to oversee reviewing and
evaluating the submitted manuscripts.
4. The Executive Editor may appoint up to four Guest Editors to assist in coordinating the
peer review process. The Guest Editors are also responsible for providing a Foreword to
the special section before publication.
5. The Conference Organizers must file a Special Section Request Form at least nine
months before the conference dates, detailing the Guest Editors, conference dates, and
other relevant details using the appropriate form provided by the Journal.
6. A Letter of Appointment will be issued to each Guest Editor, detailing the Terms and
Conditions of their role.
7. The Executive and Guest Editors shall adhere to the Journal's full editorial code and
practices. Each article must undergo at least two review cycles by no less than three
independent reviewers.
8. The time for the first decision on Journal-submitted papers should be at most one month.
9. The Computers & Graphics Editor-in-Chief retains the final decision on all papers and
may overrule the Executive Editor’s recommendations for Journal publication if deemed
necessary.
10. All papers must be accepted four weeks before the first day of the Conference.
11. At most thirty days after the end of the Conference, the Conference Organizers will
provide a report for publication.
